The Evening: The Curtain Call Gala, Dallas Summer Musicals’ signature annual fundraiser, is a spectacular evening of entertainment preceded by an elegant seated dinner and an exceptional live and silent auction. Expect fine dining, dazzling entertainment, and elegant ambiance, then cap off the evening by dancing the night away at the Curtain Call Cabaret late night party.
The Mission: Proceeds from Curtain Call support DSM's mission to bring the best of Broadway to Dallas and provide for children's education and outreach programs.
At the heart of Dallas Summer Musicals is the commitment to produce family entertainment on a grand scale. Year after year, we re-dedicate our promise to introduce children to the magic of artistic expression, nurture the performers of today and tomorrow, and enrich audiences with superb theatrical experiences. Dallas Summer Musicals’ Education and Outreach Programs — Seats for Kids, Stage Right, Discover Theatre, Kids Club, and Dallas Summer Musicals Academy of Performing Arts — bring the magic and joy of live musical theatre to more than 10,000 children annually.
The Entertainment: In celebration of DSM’s 70th anniversary, Curtain Call 2010 will be a grand celebration of sights, sounds, and festivities.
The lineup includes such luminaries as Mitzi Gaynor, David Cassidy, Tom Wopat, Ben Vereen, Cathy Rigby and a special finale by Sutton Foster who, among her many roles, currently plays Princess Fiona in SHREK, THE MUSICAL. Although Sutton had been working on Broadway and national tours since she was 17, she became a Broadway legend when she became an “understudy to the rescue” and took on the lead role of “Millie” in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, eventually winning the 2002 Tony Award® for Best Actress in a Musical. Since then, she has created four original roles in four new Broadway musicals, a record unsurpassed by any musical theatre actress of her generation.
This exceptional once-in-a-lifetime experience will be directed by Jeff Calhoun, well known for his direction of BIG RIVER, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, BROOKLYN and is currently directing BONNIE AND CLYDE.
