DESCRIPTION

RENT is the classic musical about love, friendship and community, and the seventh longest-running show in Broadway history. Now, RENT is coming to YOUR CITY in a new touring production starring original Broadway cast members Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp!

Over the course of its groundbreaking 12-year New York run, RENT transformed the definition of musical theater -- and changed Broadway forever. Set in NYC's East Village, RENT is a modern take on the classic Puccini opera, La Boheme. It tells the unforgettable story of a group of young artists learning to survive, falling in love, finding their voices and living for today.

Dallas, April 30, 2009: Seats in the orchestra pit will be made available for $20.00 for every performance of RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony® Award-winning musical, at the Music Hall at Fair Park, May 5 – 10, 2009. The $20 tickets go on sale at the Music Hall box office, on the day of performance only, two hours prior to the show and are available to anyone, cash only, with a limit of two tickets per person. 2 hours before curtain patrons may line up in the Music Hall main lobby to fill out a lottery form, found at the lottery table set up next to The Box Office. 1 ½ hours before curtain, names will be drawn until the 54 pit orchestra seats are filled, per performance.
"In keeping with the spirit of the show and the vision of Jonathan Larson (the show's creator) we are happy to be able to offer prime seats to people who otherwise would not be able to purchase them," explained original RENT producer Kevin McCollum. "Jonathan was himself a struggling artist and his dream was to create a universal piece of musical theatre that's available to everyone."
The tradition of the $20 tickets was started in New York when the show moved to Broadway after a sold-out run in a small downtown theatre. Since that time people have lined up as early as the night before to guarantee their purchase of the $20 tickets. The producers of the show are committed to continuing the tradition of offering orchestra seats for $20 in each city the show will play.

A Student Rush ticket will also be available 1 ½ hours before and up to curtain for all performances. Students must show ID at the Music Hall Box Office to purchase a 50% off regular price ticket (fees apply) in price levels 2, 3 or 4; limit 2 per ID. Tickets are subject to availability and prior sales. Performance prices and dates subject to change without notification. Offer expires Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 8pm (CST). No refunds or exchanges. Additional service and handling charges apply. Does not apply to previously purchased tickets.
