- PREDICTION STRATEGY TIPS
- Be careful whom you select to win each battle! While people, not in this contest, are simply voting their favorite show of each battle -- as a contestant you will be filling out the contest bracket based on how you think people voted on facebook! Remember, just because a show might be popular doesn't mean others won't vote a different winner.
- You'll see we have added a "Statistic Line" beneath each show title. This will tell you how many Tony® (T), Drama Desk® (D) Grammy® (G) Pulitzer® (P) awards that show has won, and also the “Longest Running Show on Broadway” Position (#).

There will be some who will lament the exclusion of their favorite show from the tournament: Indeed, my own favorite is SCARLET PIMPERNEL, and it didn't make the cut. We used Wikipedia's list of the 100 longest-running broadway shows, which includes the awards won by each show in the list.
The 16 shows chosen were the ones who had the longest runs on Broadway combined with the most awards given. Generally speaking, a show had to have 6 Tony Awards® to make the cut. The first exception to that was RENT, which had only 4 Tonys®, but had 12 awards combined (including a Pulitzer®) AND was the #8 longest running show in Broadway history. The other exception was BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, which had only 1 Tony®, but was the #6 longest running show in Broadway history, clear skewing towards the "Longest Run on Broadway" end of the spectrum (graphic below).
A few shows which won a lot of awards may not have had as long a run on Broadway as others, but they were accepted because they skewed towards the "Most Major Awards Won" end of the spectrum. It should be noted that to even be on Wiki's list, a show had to have 1, 010 performances on Broadway. A real tragedy is when a given show had won a fair number of awards, but the Broadway run was too short to make the list. SWEENEY TODD is an example of this with 3 Tonys®, 4 Drama Desks® and an Olivier Award®, but only played Broadway for 557 performances.
Seeding the actual tournament spots was difficult. Comparing "long runs" to "bunches of awards" is an inexact science. However, after multiple versions, we believe the current format to be as logical and fair as possible. For those who may be in disbelief that WICKED is seeded 3rd in the "West Side"
grouping, note that it has less awards and shorter Broadway runs than both #1s, both #2s, and the #3 from the "East Side" grouping. And, while THE PRODUCERS clearly has won more awards by far than anyone else...it wasn't #1 in the "East Side" bracket because it was the #21longest running show on Broadway compared to THE LION KING's #9 longest run.

- After The Championship has concluded, the person whose bracket has scored the most points will win the MARY POPPINS package!* The winner* will be announced on Facebook once office personnel have had a chance to tally all of the points on each bracket form and determine a winner!
* In the event multiple people have the same identical high-score, the contest winner will be determined by choosing, from that group of same-score brackets, the individual who correctly
predicted the most battles. In the event a tie still exists at that point, a winner will be selected, from those remaining in the tie, by our company President. Brackets not filled out completely will not be considered.

FORM SUBMISSION TIPS & HELP
When you click on the "submit via email" button on the tournament bracket form, you'll see a responsive message (like the one below) asking what type of email program you use.
Option #1, "Desktop Email Application" is pretty self-explanatory. It's for email programs like MS Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, or some kind of installed mail program. If you select this one, the rest of the process is automated and you won't have to do anything else! The screen looks like this:

If you need to choose the 2nd option, "Internet Email" (gmail, yahoo, msn, or other web-based emails), I found, during testing, that it's easier to open another web browser and log in to your email in that one; having both browser windows side by side.
In short, you will save a copy of your bracket to your computer, then open a new email to us, and attach the PDF file of your bracket to the email. Then send.
Here is more detailed instructions should you need them.
- When you see the instructions (like the ones below) stop and open another internet browser.
- Log in to your web email account
- Begin a new blank email
- Go back to the original internet browser when the instructions are visible and click on "Save PDF File".
- When asked where to save the file, select a destination you can easily find, like the "desktop"
- Return to internet browser window #2 (where your blank email is waiting) and enter the "To", "Subject" & "Message" information from the instructions in to the matching areas of your blank email.
- Attach the PDF you saved in #5, above, to the email.
- Hit send!
