Seats For Kids
Providing a Meaningful Arts Experience for Children
For most children, attending their first live theatre performance is an experience they remember all their lives. Yet for many low-income children in our community, attending a performance may not be possible. Fortunately for children in the Metroplex, the Seats For Kids Program is making the impossible possible. Thanks to contributions from generous individuals, corporations, and foundations, these children now have the opportunity to attend the Musicals. Why is this important? Recent studies show that exposure to the arts improves academic performance, encourages understanding and tolerance for different cultures and races, and nurtures creativity and critical-thinking skills. The Seats For Kids Program provides a meaningful arts experience for low-income, at-risk, and special needs children. DSM works with agencies across North Texas to provide each participating child with a StageNotes study guide. The study guide offers suggested topics for classroom discussion, activities that support language arts The Seats For Kids Program is open to schools and service agencies who serve low-income, at-risk, and special needs children.
